Gachon University President Lee Gil-yeo Stuns Online with Youthful Appearance at 93

Lee Gil-yeo, the 93-year-old president of Gachon University, has recently captured attention online after appearing in a promotional video for the university. Despite his advanced age, his thick hair and radiant skin led netizens to jokingly speculate if he might be a vampire.

The promotional video, released on May 14 on Gachon University's official YouTube channel, features President Lee discussing the characteristics of the artificial intelligence and platform era, stating, "The era we will live in has no thresholds or fences. Outstanding students will choose platform universities that offer abundant opportunities," and he expressed his ambition for Gachon University to become the top platform university.

The video also shows him engaging in conversation with students, smiling and exuding vitality, which further drew attention to his youthful appearance.

Clips of President Lee have been widely shared across various online communities, prompting comments from viewers such as, "Is he a vampire?" and "He looks the youngest in Korea!" Many remarked that his appearance transcends typical standards of aging.

Born on May 9, 1932, in the Okgu district of Jeollabuk-do, Lee graduated from Seoul National University’s College of Medicine and opened a gynecology practice in Incheon in 1958. In 1978, he became the first female physician in South Korea to establish a medical corporation, founding Incheon Gil Medical Center. Currently, he leads the Gachon Gil Foundation, the largest public interest foundation in South Korea, encompassing healthcare, education, culture, service, and media.

Lee is well-known for his youthful looks, and in past interviews, he has shared his secrets to maintaining his vitality, which include drinking plenty of water, avoiding stimulants, and managing stress effectively. In a February interview, he emphasized the importance of adhering to simple, healthy habits such as regular living, hydration, and abstaining from alcohol and tobacco.

At 91, he also made headlines for his youthful demeanor when he surprised attendees at the Gachon University Hanmaeum Festival Water Festival in 2023, where he joined the stage with the global star PSY, exclaiming, "Today is the day the world-renowned star PSY is coming! We are Gachon Style!" He entertained the crowd with a rendition of PSY's iconic dance, prompting cheers from students as he energetically moved to the music.
