Funeral Held for Three High School Students in Busan

On June 23, a funeral service was held at Yeongnak Park in Geumjeong District, Busan, for three students from A Arts High School who tragically took their own lives on June 21. Approximately 100 family members, friends, and teachers attended the ceremony to bid farewell to the young lives lost.
As the hearses transported the students' caskets to the crematorium, the waiting area was filled with sorrowful cries. Over a hundred students in uniforms wept openly, expressing their grief with cries of 'What are we going to do?' Many comforted each other, while some turned away, unable to face the sight of their friends' caskets.
The parents of the deceased were inconsolable, with one mother lamenting, 'How can I live without you?' and the father echoing, 'I can't go on.'
In response to the tragedy, the school adjusted its academic schedule to allow students to attend the funeral. Additionally, starting that day, the school offered counseling services from external professionals to support the mental well-being of all students.
Financial assistance for funeral expenses is also being provided. The school principal, along with staff and the Angel Peace Art Troupe, has raised 8 million won to help cover the costs. Parents have expressed their willingness to contribute further if needed.
The principal stated, 'The psychological stability of our students, who are in shock from this sudden event, is our top priority. We plan to provide as much support as possible.' He also mentioned that the education office has initiated a special audit of the school, hoping for a swift return to normalcy.
The three second-year female students from A Arts High School reportedly left behind notes indicating that academic pressure and entrance exam stress contributed to their tragic decision. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will conduct a special audit of the school starting June 25, with a team of 15 members organized to address various parental concerns raised recently.
