He shared that he and his wife underwent a health check-up around April 21, where they both received clean bills of health. Jin revealed, 'This was my first health check-up in 44 years. Unfortunately, during a fine needle aspiration biopsy, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Thankfully, it seems to be in the very early stages, but the results confirmed that it is a malignant tumor, and surgery is necessary.' 

Relieved to hear that surgery could treat his condition, Jin quickly made arrangements for the procedure. He expressed, 'I want to share this with you all. Throughout my life, especially after losing Tae-eun, there have been many moments of despair. But I've learned that falling apart doesn't help.' 

He cautioned against underestimating thyroid cancer, stating, 'Some people say it's a benign cancer, but that's not true. If it spreads, it can become serious. Many people take thyroid cancer lightly, but my research shows otherwise.' Jin credited his wife, Park Si-eun, as his lifesaver, explaining, 'I almost skipped this health check-up after 44 years, but Si-eun dragged me into the fitting room and insisted I go. I can't live without her.' 

Park Si-eun chimed in, 'I did persuade him to get the check-up for our 10th wedding anniversary. It was necessary, right?' Jin agreed, encouraging others to prioritize their health as well. 

He also shared a personal anecdote, mentioning that fellow actor Jin Sun-kyu and his wife had also undergone health check-ups around the same time, adding, 'I didn't even tell Sun-kyu about my diagnosis. Only a few people, including our team and parents, knew about it.' 

Jin concluded with a positive outlook, stating, 'I'm not one to dwell on setbacks. I plan to manage my health well and focus on recovering quickly so I can enjoy my work and participate in a marathon later this year. I want to run well and ride my bike when the weather is nice.'

Park Hyun-jong, the former chairman of BHC, has been transferred to the prosecution after being investigated for embezzlement and breach of trust. According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's anti-corruption unit, Park was sent to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office without detention on charges of embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes. Park previously served as the vice president in charge of overseas operations at BBQ before moving to BHC after BBQ sold the company to a private equity fund in 2013. He was dismissed from his position as chairman by BHC's parent company, Global Gourmet Services, in November 2023, citing management reform.
