Funeral Arrangements for Late Singer Wheesung Announced

The funeral arrangements for the late singer Wheesung (휘성) have been officially announced. His agency, Tajo Entertainment (타조엔터테인먼트), revealed on March 12 that the family has decided to hold a memorial service to honor Wheesung, who passed away on March 10 at approximately 6:29 PM in an apartment in Gwangjin-gu. He was found in a state of cardiac arrest, and while there were no signs of foul play, a syringe was reportedly found nearby. An autopsy was conducted by the National Forensic Service on March 12 to determine the exact cause of death.

Initially, the family planned to forgo a public viewing and proceed directly to cremation after the autopsy. However, they later decided to set up a memorial space for fans and loved ones to pay their respects. The agency stated, "The family is experiencing immense grief and pain due to this sudden loss. They had intended to keep the funeral private for the sake of their mother's health, but after careful consideration, they felt it was important to provide a space for those who cherished Wheesung to gather and remember him."

Wheesung's younger brother expressed the family's sorrow, stating, "We were deeply saddened and had initially decided to hold a quiet funeral for our mother’s health. However, we believe it is respectful to create a time and place for fans to commemorate both the artist Wheesung and the person Choi Wheesung."

He added, "My brother always carried a profound loneliness that no one could comfort, and he lived fiercely, channeling those feelings through his music and singing. We invite everyone who knew him or found happiness in his songs to visit the memorial and help ensure his final journey is not a lonely one."

The memorial will be held at the Samsung Medical Center (삼성서울병원) starting March 14, with the funeral service scheduled for March 16 at the Gwangneung Memorial Park (광릉추모공원).
