Freelance Broadcaster Kim Na-jung Resumes Social Media Activity After Drug Allegations
Freelance broadcaster Kim Na-jung (김나정), 33, has returned to social media following her recent indictment for drug use in the Philippines. On May 20, she shared two photos on her official social media account without any accompanying explanation. In the images, Kim showcases a new bob hairstyle and is dressed in a sleeveless white top that reveals her shoulders.
This marks Kim's first social media activity in approximately four months since the news of her indictment broke. Last November, she made headlines when she confessed on social media to using drugs in the Philippines, stating, "I feel like I might die, so I can't board the plane."
Upon her return to Incheon International Airport, Kim was questioned by airport police. She claimed that she was forced to inhale drugs by a young businessman she met in the Philippines. However, police determined that the evidence provided by Kim's team was insufficient to prove coercion, leading to her indictment in January for violating drug control laws related to methamphetamine and synthetic cannabis.
Following the indictment, Kim's representatives issued a statement arguing that the prosecution occurred without interviewing key witnesses, asserting that it is unusual for someone in her situation to leave direct evidence of coercion.
