Former TVXQ Member Kim Junsu's Blackmail Case Results in 7-Year Sentence for Female BJ

A female internet broadcaster, identified as A, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for blackmailing Kim Junsu (김준수), a former member of the popular group TVXQ (동방신기) and a musical actor. The Uijeongbu District Court's 11th Criminal Division, presided over by Judge Oh Chang-seob, delivered the verdict on February 6, 2025, under the Specific Economic Crimes Aggravated Punishment Act.
The court stated, "The defendant recorded private conversations and took photos of the victim, and when their relationship deteriorated, she used this to extort money." It was noted that the defendant admitted to all charges and that the evidence presented was sufficient for a guilty verdict. The court emphasized the severity of the crime, including the methods and duration of the offenses, and acknowledged the economic and psychological harm suffered by the victim, who requested a harsh penalty.
Previously, during the sentencing hearing on January 16, the prosecution had sought a seven-year prison term for A. They detailed that the defendant had threatened the victim via social media, demanding money and ultimately extorting approximately 840 million KRW (around $700,000) over 101 instances from September 2020 to October 2021 by threatening to release private conversations and recordings online.
