Former Soccer Star Song Jong-kook Living in a Camper After Divorce and Child Support Controversy

Song Jong-kook (송종국), once celebrated as a national hero for his role in South Korea's remarkable run to the semifinals of the 2002 FIFA World Cup, is currently living in a camper after facing a divorce and a child support controversy. After his peak fame, Song's personal life has been under scrutiny. He divorced Park Yeon-soo (박연수) in 2015, and she has been the primary caregiver for their two children, Song Ji-a (송지아) and Song Ji-wook (송지욱).

The situation escalated last year when Park Yeon-soo publicly accused Song of failing to pay child support. She took to social media, urging him to honor his commitments, stating, "I only asked him to keep one promise made in front of the law for the children..." She later clarified her post to specifically mention child support, expressing her frustration after enduring the situation for a long time.

Despite the ongoing controversy, Song has been living a different lifestyle. In a recent episode of MBN's (MBN) show 'Altoran' (알토란), it was revealed that he has been residing in a camper for the past four years, which he described as his "small home". Located near a small reservoir in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, his camper, valued at around 70 million won, offers him a sense of freedom and comfort that he claims is preferable to living in an apartment.

Song starts his day with a simple breakfast of apples and soybean milk, manages a large lawn, and enjoys salads made from vegetables he grows himself. He is also involved in youth soccer coaching, guiding young players as he continues his journey in the sport.

Once revered as a national icon, Song Jong-kook's life has taken a surprising turn, marked by his divorce, child support issues, and his unconventional living situation in a camper.
