Former Representative Han Dong-hoon Criticizes President Lee Jae-myung's Appointments

On July 20, 2025, former People Power Party (국민의힘) leader Han Dong-hoon criticized President Lee Jae-myung's recent appointments of Kim Ui-gyeom as the new head of the Saemangeum Development Agency (새만금개발청) and Choi Dong-seok as the new head of the Human Resources Development Service (인사혁신처). Han questioned whether these appointments were made to intentionally provoke public anger.
In a Facebook post, Han stated, 'President Lee has appointed former lawmaker Kim Ui-gyeom and Choi Dong-seok, the head of the Human Resources Organization Research Institute, to these significant positions. These individuals were responsible for spreading false rumors about me during my tenure as Minister of Justice, specifically the 'Cheongdam-dong Cellist' scandal.'
He further explained that the rumors had been proven to be baseless, leading to Kim Ui-gyeom and others being indicted and currently facing trial. Han noted that the original source of the rumors, the cellist, fabricated lies to cover up her infidelity. He remarked on Kim's notorious habit of lying, recalling a moment during a National Assembly audit when he challenged Kim, saying, 'I will stake everything; what will you stake?' to which Kim backed down.
Han also expressed concern over Choi Dong-seok's appointment, citing past comments where Choi claimed to have a strong conviction about the truth of the rumors involving President Yoon Suk-yeol and himself. Choi had stated on his YouTube channel that understanding a person's past actions is crucial for analysis.
Han concluded by questioning the effectiveness of appointments made by someone with such dubious beliefs, urging reconsideration for the sake of the government's success.
