Former President Yoon Suk-yeol's Wife Under Investigation for False Career Claims

On June 4, the prosecution summoned Choi Seung-hoon, the former secretary general of the Korea Game Industry Association, as part of their investigation into allegations that former President Yoon Suk-yeol disseminated false information regarding his wife, Kim Geon-hee's, career.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, specifically the Public Investigation Division 2 led by Chief Prosecutor Jo Min-woo, questioned Choi as a witness. Choi previously stated that Kim falsely claimed to have worked as the 'Planning Team Director' at the association from March 2002 for three years in her application for a professorship at Suwon Women's University in 2007.
In December 2021, Choi revealed on his Facebook that he had been employed at the predecessor of the association, the Korea Game Industry Federation, since 2002 and served as the policy director and secretary general for five years following the establishment of the Korea Game Industry Association in 2004. He emphasized, "I have neither worked with nor even met Kim Geon-hee." He also noted that during the federation's early days, the staff numbered no more than four, and the association itself had fewer than ten employees, asserting that his recollections contradict Kim's claims.
In response to these allegations, Yoon, while campaigning for the presidency, stated during a discussion at the Kwanhun Club on December 14 that he was unsure about the specifics of Kim's claims but believed they were not entirely false. This statement led the civic group Judicial Justice Citizen Action to file a complaint against him for allegedly making false statements.
The prosecution began its formal investigation following the filing of the complaint on May 1.
