Former President Yoon Suk-yeol to Attend Court Hearing in Person

Former President Yoon Suk-yeol is set to appear in person at the third court hearing regarding charges of insurrection on May 12. Previously, he attended court sessions through a private entrance in the underground parking lot. On May 8, the Seoul High Court, responsible for security at the Seoul Court Complex, announced that Yoon will now enter the courtroom through the main ground entrance of the courthouse. A court official explained that this decision was made after discussions among key officials from the Seoul High Court and the Seoul Central District Court, taking into account the circumstances surrounding previous court dates. In the past two hearings, Yoon was allowed to use the underground parking area at the request of the presidential security service, which sparked controversy over perceived preferential treatment. With this new ruling, Yoon will now enter the courtroom like other defendants. The criminal court where Yoon is being tried is located on the fourth floor.
