Former President Yoon Suk-yeol Faces Interrogation by Special Investigation Team

On the morning of June 28, 2025, former President Yoon Suk-yeol arrived at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office in Seocho-gu for a face-to-face interrogation by the Special Investigation Team regarding insurrection-related allegations. The investigation commenced at approximately 10:14 AM and lasted around two and a half hours. The inquiry focused on accusations that Yoon had instructed officials to obstruct the execution of arrest warrants. Leading the investigation was Park Chang-hwan, head of the Major Crimes Investigation Division at the National Police Agency, with Deputy Superintendents Lee Jang-pil and Choi Sang-jin present. Yoon's legal team included attorneys Chae Myung-sung and Song Jin-ho.

At 12:44 PM, the Special Investigation Team confirmed that the morning session had proceeded smoothly. Following the completion of the initial inquiry, the team plans to continue investigating the decision-making process of the National Security Council regarding the emergency martial law declared on December 3, as well as foreign exchange-related allegations.

Park Ji-young, a deputy chief of the Special Investigation Team, praised Park Chang-hwan's involvement, describing him as a "representative elite" dispatched from the police who has been familiar with the case from the beginning. She emphasized that the decision to assign him was based solely on investigative logic and efficiency.

The Special Investigation Team is prepared to question Yoon regarding the foreign exchange allegations and the National Security Council's decision-making process as the investigation progresses. Park Ji-young noted that a significant amount of evidence has already been gathered, indicating readiness for further inquiries.
