Former President Yoon Seok-yeol Faces Arrest Warrant Amid Ongoing Investigations

The special investigation team led by Prosecutor Oh Jeong-hee has filed for an arrest warrant against former President Yoon Seok-yeol on July 30, 2025, as part of the ongoing investigation into various allegations involving his wife, Kim Geon-hee. During a regular briefing, Oh stated that Yoon was notified to appear for questioning at 10 AM today but failed to show up without providing any reason. The warrant was requested around 2:12 PM. Yoon's legal team has yet to submit a formal appointment to the investigation team.

Additionally, the special investigation team has requested a suspension of the ongoing criminal trial related to the Yangpyeong Gonghung District allegations to submit further evidence and pursue additional charges. Oh mentioned that the Suwon District Court's appellate division accepted this request and has recently set a new trial date.

Furthermore, the investigation team plans to summon political broker Myung Tae-kyun for questioning on July 31 and August 1. They believe he is willing to cooperate and attend the scheduled sessions. Myung is accused of providing free opinion polls to Yoon and his wife ahead of the 2022 presidential election, allegedly in exchange for securing a nomination for former lawmaker Kim Young-sun in the June 2022 by-election. He is currently under investigation for bribery and violations of political funding laws.

Previously, the investigation team had delivered a request for Myung to appear on July 28, but his legal representatives declined to accept the notice, citing scheduling conflicts.
