Former National Team Member Son Yeon-jae Talks Marriage and Parenting on '형수는 케이윌'

On February 5, 2025, Son Yeon-jae, a former national rhythmic gymnast, made her first appearance on the YouTube channel '형수는 케이윌' after giving birth. In the episode titled 'Parenting Talk with K.Will, Who is 4 Years Older than My Husband,' she shared her experiences regarding marriage and motherhood.

Son clarified that the term '4 months' often associated with her marriage does not mean she married her husband just four months after they met. She explained, 'When the dating rumors surfaced, it was said to be '4 months,' but that was just when we were discovered. We were engaged for a while before the announcement.' She added that they had planned to marry after a year of dating, but due to venue availability, they moved the wedding up to summer.

Reflecting on motherhood, Son expressed that giving birth brought a new sense of reality to her marriage. When K.Will asked how challenging parenting is, she humorously replied, 'I thought it would be easier to go to the Olympics right after giving birth.'

Son shared that the day she gave birth felt like the true beginning of her marriage, stating, 'The wedding felt like a party, but having a baby made it feel real.' She also revealed that she and her husband had never fought during their dating or newlywed days, but after the baby arrived, they began to argue due to sleep deprivation.

Thanks to her husband's active involvement in parenting, Son did not experience postpartum depression. However, she admitted to feeling a bit disappointed during her pregnancy when she saw an ultrasound image that resembled her husband. 'I wanted my child to look a bit like me,' she said, emphasizing her desire for a resemblance. She concluded by sharing that as their child grows, he is starting to look more like her.
