Former Minister Lee Sang-min Summoned by Special Prosecutors in Coup Investigation

Former Minister of the Interior and Safety, Lee Sang-min (이상민), has been summoned by special prosecutors to appear as a suspect on July 25. He is accused of directing fire and police services to cut off power and water to specific media outlets under the orders of former President Yoon Suk-yeol (윤석열) during a state of emergency. In connection with this case, the special prosecutors conducted searches at Lee's residence, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety office, the National Fire Agency, and the Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters on July 17. They also questioned former Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters Chief Hwang Gi-seok (황기석) on July 18 and Deputy Chief Lee Young-pal (이영팔) on July 22 as witnesses.
