Former MBC Weathercaster Bae Soo-yeon Expresses Grief Over the Death of Oh Yoanna

Bae Soo-yeon, a former weathercaster for MBC, shared her deep sorrow in memory of the late Oh Yoanna. On February 2, she expressed, "My heart is incredibly pained... MBC, especially in the weather team where I once worked, has experienced such a tragic event, and I truly don't know what to say."
She continued, "Every day brings new, heartbreaking news. Even when I left MBC, my voice as a freelance weathercaster went unheard by anyone there. MBC, the news department, the weather team—these were places I loved dearly, but I learned the harsh realities behind them. I thought things might have changed, but it seems they remain the same."
Bae Soo-yeon urged for a thorough investigation to ensure that no one else suffers injustice, saying, "I sincerely hope that Oh Yoanna, my junior, finds peace and does not suffer there... If only I could have met her just once... May she rest in peace."
Oh Yoanna joined MBC as a weathercaster in 2021 but tragically passed away in September of the previous year at the age of 28. The news of her death was only revealed three months later in December, and the cause of death has not been disclosed. However, recent reports have surfaced allegations of workplace bullying she faced during her time at MBC, leading to widespread outrage. According to reports, her family stated that she took her own life, and a 17-page suicide note was found on her phone. In response, MBC has decided to form a committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
