On December 12, 2024, the Special Investigation Unit for Emergency Martial Law of the police announced that they, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense's investigation headquarters, have secured the 'secret phone' used by former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun during the martial law period. The investigation team conducted searches at the Ministry of National Defense in Yongsan, Seoul, and the Capital Defense Command in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, on the same day.
