Other candidates included Lee Jun-seok of the Reform Party with 7.29% and Kwon Young-guk of the Democratic Labor Party with 0.92%. 

Initially, Kim led the count, but by the time the count reached 15%, Lee had overtaken him with 46.77% compared to Kim's 45.02%. The exit polls conducted by KBS, MBC, and SBS predicted that Lee would secure 51.7% of the votes, while Kim was expected to receive 39.3%, and Lee Jun-seok 7.7%. 

The exit poll was conducted by the Joint Prediction Survey Committee (KEP), which surveyed 80,146 voters across 325 polling stations, with a margin of error of ±0.8% at a 95% confidence level. The commission anticipates that a clearer picture of the election results will emerge after 70-80% of the votes are counted, with counting expected to continue into the morning of June 4. 

The preliminary voter turnout for this election was reported at 79.4%, marking the highest turnout in 28 years. Out of 44,391,871 registered voters, 35,524,416 participated, surpassing the final turnout of 77.1% in the 2022 election and 77.2% in the 2017 election.

Early voting is convenient; the lines are short." He further emphasized, "I always tell you that voting is about preventing the worst. If the best option isn't available, choose the next best, and if that's not an option, choose the least bad to avoid the worst outcome."

The call for voting continued with singer 이상순 (Lee Sang-soon), who, during his June 3 appearance on MBC Radio's 'Perfect Day with Lee Sang-soon,' responded to a listener's comment about enjoying a day off by stating, "It's not a day off; it's voting day. You can vote and then relax. It's a day to skip work to vote."

On the same day, comedian 김신영 (Kim Shin-young) also spoke on MBC Radio's 'Hope Song at Noon,' saying, "Today is the day of the 21st presidential election. I hope the voter turnout increases. Anyone over 18 can vote. Voting is scarier than guns or knives. Please exercise your precious right. Don't forget to bring your ID!" She added, "When there's leisure, comedy thrives. On June 4, a day before World Environment Day, children from Dongyoung Kindergarten in Daegu's Suseong District participated in an environmental campaign, holding handmade signs. This year marks the first World Environment Day ceremony in South Korea since 1997, with the theme set as 'Ending Plastic Pollution.' The event will take place on June 5 at the Jeju International Convention Center in Seogwipo, Jeju Island. 

World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5, commemorates the first United Nations Conference on the Human Environment held in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1972. The Ministry of Environment stated that the official slogan for this year is 'Shared Challenge, Collective Action,' emphasizing that the fight against plastic pollution requires a united effort from all humanity. 

The ceremony will see participation from around 1,300 attendees, including high-level representatives from 20 countries such as Laos, Bangladesh, and Japan, as well as ambassadors, and members from civil society, academia, and industry. 

Additionally, the Ministry plans to unveil an 'Action Plan for a Circular Economy' during the ceremony. This initiative aims to assist countries struggling with plastic pollution by leveraging South Korea's technology and experience to conduct tailored projects based on comprehensive analyses of their specific issues. 

On June 4, the '30X30 Alliance' will be launched, aiming to protect and manage 30% of the nation's land as protected areas or areas of ecological coexistence, while restoring 30% of degraded lands. This alliance includes various organizations such as the Ministry of Environment, the National Institute of Biological Resources, and private companies like Samsung Electronics and POSCO DX, along with international organizations and NGOs. 

In December 2022, countries adopted the 'Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework' at the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity in Canada, which aims to designate 30% of the planet as protected areas and restore 30% of degraded ecosystems by 2030. In line with this, South Korea plans to establish its '5th National Biodiversity Strategy' by December 2023, committing to designate 30% of its territory as protected areas or areas of ecological coexistence (OECM) by 2030.
