Former BIGBANG Member T.O.P Announces Solo Comeback

Choi Seung-hyun (최승현), known as T.O.P from the iconic K-pop group BIGBANG, has officially hinted at his return as a solo artist. In a recent interview with the global platform Awards Buzz (어워드 버즈), he discussed his role in the upcoming Netflix original series Squid Game (오징어 게임) Season 3, where he previously appeared in Season 2.
During the interview, when asked how Thanos, his character, would handle world domination, he humorously replied, "First, I will keep the piggy bank for myself. And just like Thanos said, I will eliminate half of humanity with my rap." This playful comment led to his announcement, stating, "Because, because my solo album dropping soon (왜냐하면 제 솔로 앨범이 곧 나올 거거든요)."
T.O.P had been on a hiatus since being sentenced to 10 months in prison with a two-year probation for marijuana use in 2016. He made his acting comeback in December last year by portraying the washed-up rapper Thanos in Squid Game Season 2. However, following the show's release, he faced mixed reviews and was excluded from promotional activities, including the production press conference and global showcase.
Recently, T.O.P has started to address various controversies through interviews and made a public appearance at the Netflix global fan event TUDUM 2025 held at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, promoting the upcoming Squid Game Season 3. As he prepares for his solo activities alongside his acting career, fans are eager to see what direction he will take next.
