Former Announcer Kim Seon-geun Expresses Gratitude to Jang Yoon-jung on 'Boss's Ears Are Donkey Ears'

Kim Seon-geun, a former announcer who transitioned to freelancing, appeared on KBS2's 'Boss's Ears Are Donkey Ears' (사장님 귀는 당나귀 귀) to express his gratitude to Jang Yoon-jung. This program, which aims to foster a more enjoyable workplace for bosses in South Korea, recently achieved a peak viewership rating of 7.4%, maintaining its position as the top entertainment show in its time slot for 142 consecutive weeks, according to Nielsen Korea.
In the episode airing today (February 23), boss Eom Ji-in invites Kim Seon-geun to provide mental training for announcers Kim Jin-woong and Hong Joo-yeon. Jeon Hyun-moo humorously remarks on Kim Seon-geun's sudden decision to freelance, saying, "It was a bit unexpected at the time." When meeting Kim Seon-geun, Kim Jin-woong shares, "I poured my soul into KBS," eliciting laughter. Jeon Hyun-moo adds, "You put your soul in, but your body is leaving," showcasing the relaxed demeanor of a successful freelancer.
However, Kim Seon-geun candidly reveals the struggles of freelancing, moving the audience. He explains, "I left for financial reasons. I suddenly needed money after winning a housing lottery." He shares that for the first six months after leaving, he had zero income. During this tough period, Jang Yoon-jung surprised him by giving him 2 million won in an envelope, stating, "Seon-geun, you might need this after leaving."
Kim Seon-geun also took on various part-time jobs, including packing books, unloading at a shopping mall, and laundry collection. He confesses, "I often cried in my car after being scolded by security guards in the early morning," revealing his emotional struggles. He advises Kim Jin-woong and Hong Joo-yeon not to consider freelancing, humorously noting, "I was in a vague position when I left, and it was tough without a clear role."
In a light-hearted moment, Park Myung-soo questions Jeon Hyun-moo, asking, "Is it just about your happiness, Hyun-moo?" leaving viewers curious about his reaction. Kim Seon-geun's heartfelt confessions will be fully revealed in the broadcast of 'Boss's Ears Are Donkey Ears.'
