A appeared for a pre-arrest interrogation at the court around 1:40 PM but declined to answer questions from reporters regarding his motives or any messages for the victim's family.

The incident occurred on June 10 at approximately 3:30 AM, when A allegedly killed a woman in her 50s, identified as B, with a knife in an apartment in Daegu's Dalseo District. After the attack, A fled the scene in a vehicle belonging to an acquaintance and traveled to Sejong City, where he took a taxi to a mountain area near his father's grave.

Despite extensive search efforts by the police, which included personnel, search dogs, and drones, A managed to evade capture for several days. Authorities in Sejong City even advised residents to avoid outdoor activities due to concerns over potential criminal activity linked to A.

A was finally apprehended on June 14 at around 10:45 PM after he made a call from a payphone to a friend, revealing his location. He was arrested near a container warehouse in Jochiwon-eup, where he had arranged to meet the acquaintance.

Taeil, a member of NCT who was expelled from the group due to allegations of sexual assault, has been sentenced to seven years in prison. The prosecution has requested a seven-year prison sentence for Taeil and his co-defendants. Evidence presented by the prosecution includes text messages exchanged among the defendants during the crime, suggesting they planned to avoid detection by instructing each other to take the victim to a different location.

The prosecution stated, "This case involves the gang rape of a foreign female tourist, making it extremely serious and indicative of poor character. The defendants even discussed deliberately sending the victim away in a taxi to obscure the crime scene, indicating an intent to prevent her from remembering the location or to evade police tracking."

They also expressed skepticism about the defendants' claims of remorse, stating, "Given the defendants' arguments, it is highly questionable whether they genuinely regret their actions."

Regarding the submission of a confession letter by the defendants, the prosecution noted, "This document was submitted only two months after the incident, following police identification and a search warrant. It raises doubts about whether this can be considered a legitimate confession under the law."

Taeil's defense argued that he is deeply remorseful for the pain caused to the victim and has expressed his apologies through a public defender during the investigation. They claimed the victim accepted his apology and expressed a desire not to pursue charges. Taeil has reportedly committed to participating in sexual crime prevention programs and psychological counseling to ensure he does not repeat his mistakes.

Additionally, the defense highlighted the impact of the incident on Taeil's family, stating that his mother lost her job due to the scandal, and Taeil is currently only able to assist at a friend's restaurant, struggling to support his family financially.

Kang and Nam were accused of instructing six trainees, including 21-year-old Park, to undergo unauthorized disciplinary training on May 23, 2024, at the Army's 12th Division training center in Inje, Gangwon Province, resulting in Park's death. The day before, on May 22, they had conducted the training due to complaints about noise after lights out. Nam reported the situation to Kang, who approved the training.

During the training, the officers failed to provide the trainees with an opportunity to explain themselves and violated regulations by forcing a trainee who had not received supplies to fill his gear with books. They also made the trainees run while fully equipped, which is against training regulations that only allow walking in such conditions.

Tragically, during the training, Park collapsed, but the officers delayed emergency response, failing to recognize the seriousness of the situation. Park was taken to the hospital but passed away two days later.

On June 17, it was reported that prosecutors investigating the 'Deutsche Motors stock manipulation' case have secured hundreds of audio recordings suggesting that Kim Geon-hee, the spouse of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, was aware of stock manipulation activities involving former Deutsche Motors Chairman Kwon Oh-soo and others. The prosecution has issued a second summons for Kim, instructing her to appear for questioning next week.

According to sources, the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office recently conducted a search at Mirae Asset Securities, where accounts under Kim's name were allegedly used in the stock manipulation scheme. They obtained recordings of conversations between Kim and securities firm employees from 2009 to 2012.

These recordings reportedly contradict Kim's previous claims, indicating that she was aware of the stock manipulation activities led by Kwon, a key figure in the scheme, and Lee Jong-ho, the former head of Black Pearl Investment, who acted as a control tower in the operation. One of the recordings allegedly includes Kim stating that she agreed to entrust her account to Black Pearl in exchange for a 40% return.

Previously, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office had cleared Kim of any wrongdoing in October of last year, citing a lack of evidence to support claims that she had entered into a loss compensation agreement. However, the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office has now gathered evidence that could overturn the earlier findings.

Additionally, the prosecutors have clarified the nature of an Excel file named 'Kim Geon-hee,' which was previously secured by the original investigation team. This file, found on the computer of an employee at Black Pearl Investment, contained details of Kim's two accounts, including stock balances and withdrawal records, and was last modified in January 2011, during the second phase of the stock manipulation.

The stock manipulation group had previously claimed ignorance regarding the file's creation during court proceedings. However, the current investigation team has reportedly deciphered the file's various figures and dates, concluding that there is sufficient evidence to charge Kim as an accomplice in the stock manipulation.

The prosecution has notified Kim to appear at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office by next week at the latest. However, Kim was hospitalized at Asan Medical Center on June 16 due to severe depression, which may lead her to refuse the investigation.

If Kim fails to comply with the second summons, the investigation may be continued by the special investigation team led by Min Jung-ki. A dedicated investigation team looking into allegations against political broker Myung Tae-kyun has also issued a third summons to Kim.

Reports indicate that Kim spoke with the former chief twice for about 33 minutes on July 3, 2022, prior to her investigation into the 'Deutsche Motors stock manipulation' and 'Dior bag receipt' allegations. On July 20, Kim was questioned at a facility associated with the presidential security service rather than at the prosecutors' office.

In response, a representative for Kim stated that she does not recall the details of her conversations with the former chief and noted that she returned the secure phone months before leaving the Hanam-dong residence, claiming she had used the phone fewer than ten times.
