An Agoda representative noted that the forecast of extreme heat and prolonged rainy seasons this summer has led many travelers to plan their vacations earlier. This strategy allows them to avoid the crowds typically seen in late July to early August, while also taking advantage of lower accommodation costs compared to peak season rates.

It has been 21 years since the passing of actor 김일우 (Kim Il-woo). A graduate of Seoul Institute of the Arts, he made his acting debut in 1976 with the play '춘풍의 처' (The Woman of Choonpung). Initially working as a production assistant, he transitioned to film in 1980 after being recommended by actor 안성기 (Ahn Sung-ki) for the movie '어둠의 자식들' (Children of Darkness). 

Kim gained recognition for his role in '학생부군신위' (The Student Council) which earned him the Best Supporting Actor award at the 34th Daejong Film Awards, and he also won a Best Supporting Actor award at the 1997 Asia-Pacific Film Festival. His popularity soared in 2001 with the hit film '엽기적인 그녀' (My Sassy Girl), where he played a role that provided comic relief as one of five quintuplets. 

Throughout his career, he showcased his talent in various films including the '투캅스' (Two Cops) series, '인정사정 볼 것 없다' (No Mercy for the Rude), '화산고' (Volcano High), '일단 뛰어' (Run First), and '목포는 항구다' (Mokpo, The Harbor). In addition to his film work, he was the head of the theater company '현빈' (Hyunbin) and continued to perform on stage. 

Kim Il-woo was married to actress 이용이 (Lee Yong-hee), who is the sister of actor 이대근 (Lee Dae-geun). The couple had a son and a daughter together. Tragically, during the filming of '목포는 항구다', he was diagnosed with stomach cancer. After battling the illness, he passed away on June 13, 2004, at the age of 52.

On June 12, a 51-year-old South Korean man, referred to as A, was extradited from Ecuador to South Korea after being implicated in the distribution of over 3,000 child and youth sexual exploitation materials through an adult website. This marks the first instance of a criminal being brought back from Ecuador to South Korea.

The Ministry of Justice reported that A operated the site from November 2017 to November 2019, during which he disseminated a significant amount of illicit content. Prior to this, from December 2012 to October 2019, he was involved in advertising prostitution services on adult websites and received criminal proceeds through cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, amounting to hundreds of millions of won. His accomplices were convicted in 2022 for aiding in the distribution of obscene materials and violating laws against the concealment of criminal proceeds.

The Ministry of Justice, along with law enforcement, tracked the flow of illicit funds from the illegal site for several years, eventually locating A in Ecuador. Although there is no extradition treaty between South Korea and Ecuador, they successfully executed the extradition request. The Ministry plans to assess the scale of the criminal proceeds that were funneled to Ecuador and aims to recover those funds.

The trend of extraditing overseas criminals has been on the rise, with the number increasing from 70 in 2022 to 180 in 2023. As of April this year, 72 individuals have already been extradited, with the number of target countries expanding from 21 to 28, now including nations in South America and Africa, such as Colombia, Mexico, and Senegal.

The Ministry of Justice emphasized that this case demonstrates that there are no safe havens for criminals worldwide.

Over 22 transactions, she allegedly received a total of 211.2 million won. During this period, Jeong is accused of leaking confidential case records to Kim, creating false interrogation documents, and providing him with funds to evade arrest.

Jeong manipulated the case by first changing Kim's registered address to fall under the jurisdiction of the Uijeongbu Police Station, allowing her to reassign the fraud cases against him from other police stations. The prosecution found that she requested the reassignment of Kim's cases, citing personal connections, and received them without any issues.
