First Episode of '지금 거신 전화는': Chae Soo-bin Breaks Silence and Confronts Yoo Yeon-seok

In the premiere episode of MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama '지금 거신 전화는' (Currently Calling You), Chae Soo-bin's character, Hong Hee-joo, seizes the phone of a kidnapper and reveals her true feelings to Yoo Yeon-seok's character, Baek Sa-eon.

The episode, which aired on November 22, 2024, introduces viewers to the business couple, Hong Hee-joo (채수빈) and Baek Sa-eon (유연석). Their relationship is characterized by a lack of public affection, as they maintain a facade of a business partnership rather than a romantic marriage.

During their wedding, Baek Sa-eon made it clear that he had no intention of treating Hong Hee-joo as a wife, stating, "Why did you wear that when it’s not even yours? You will never act as my wife." Originally, it was Hong Hee-joo's sister who was supposed to marry Baek Sa-eon, but after her sister fled, Hong Hee-joo took her place.

Baek Sa-eon laid down strict rules for their marriage, including that Hong Hee-joo could not initiate a divorce, especially during the presidential election period, and that she should not show her face as his wife. He coldly remarked, "Forget the illusion that we are a couple. You are merely a hostage sent to my side."

As Hong Hee-joo's admiration for Baek Sa-eon faded, she found herself in a life-threatening situation when a kidnapper suddenly appeared. The kidnapper, using a voice-modulated phone call, threatened, "Don’t hang up. If you do, I’ll kill your wife right now." However, Baek Sa-eon, preoccupied with national affairs, coldly responded, "Go ahead and kill her. Call me when you have a body to show."

In a desperate move, Hong Hee-joo drove recklessly, knocking out the kidnapper and seizing his phone. She defiantly told the kidnapper, "Forget about Hong Hee-joo and bring back your original fiancée. You don’t need me in your life anyway."

Baek Sa-eon, visibly emotional, retorted, "Do you really think I would listen to such nonsense about abandoning Hong Hee-joo? You’re dragging my people into this too," leaving Hong Hee-joo in a state of confusion as he wrapped her in his protective words.
