Firefighter Movie Tops Box Office with 1.76 Million Viewers

The film '소방관' (Firefighter) has surged to the top of the box office in its second weekend, attracting more viewers than the previous weekend. With current trends, it is expected to surpass 2 million admissions soon.
From December 13 to 15, '소방관' drew in 657,101 viewers, marking a significant increase from its opening weekend, which saw 569,282 attendees from December 6 to 8. The cumulative audience has now exceeded 1.76 million, bringing the 2 million milestone within reach. As of December 16 at 2:30 AM, '소방관' is leading in advance ticket sales with approximately 30,000 pre-booked tickets.
Directed by 곽경택, known for the film '친구' (Friend), '소방관' is inspired by the arson incident that occurred in Hongje-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, in March 2001, and tells the story of firefighters. The film stars 곽도원, along with 주원, 이유영, 유재명, 김재명, 오대환, and 이준혁.
In the same period, '모아나2' (Moana 2) added 389,481 viewers, nearing the 3 million mark with a total of 2.74 million admissions. This sequel to the 2016 film '모아나' (Moana) follows the character Moana as she embarks on a quest to lift a curse from a hidden ancient island, joined by the legendary hero Maui and new crew members. Auli'i Cravalho reprises her role as Moana, while Dwayne Johnson voices Maui.
Other films in the weekend box office rankings include '위키드' (Wicked) at third place with 131,531 viewers (cumulative 1.7 million), '대가족' (Big Family) at fourth with 100,931 viewers (cumulative 180,000), and '1승' (One Win) at fifth with 42,905 viewers (cumulative 280,000).
