Firefighter Movie Surpasses 1 Million Viewers and Tops Box Office

The film 'Firefighter' (소방관), produced by ㈜바이포엠스튜디오 and directed by 곽경택, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 1 million viewers just eight days after its release. On its ninth day, it claimed the top spot at the overall box office despite facing tough competition from other new releases. In its second week, 'Firefighter' attracted 96,383 viewers on December 11, showing an increase from the 81,673 viewers on its opening day, December 4.
The film's audience numbers rose by 11.8% compared to the previous day's 86,230 viewers, indicating a strong upward trend in its box office performance. Additionally, it is showing impressive pre-sale rates against other December releases like 'Big Family' (대가족) and 'Harbin' (하얼빈), suggesting that its popularity will continue to grow.
Moreover, 'Firefighter' is participating in the '119 Won Donation Challenge,' where 119 won from each ticket sold is donated to improve the equipment and working conditions of firefighters in South Korea. This initiative allows viewers to contribute to a good cause simply by watching the film, with the funds aimed at supporting the National Fire Hospital set to open in 2025. The '119 Won Donation Challenge' is expected to create a positive impact and foster a warmer society.
The film portrays the harrowing experiences of firefighters during the tragic Hongje-dong fire disaster in 2001, focusing on their singular goal of extinguishing the fire and rescuing victims under dire conditions. 'Firefighter' is currently being screened in theaters nationwide, featuring performances by actors 주원, 곽도원, 오대환, 이준혁, 유재명, 장영남, and 이유영.
