Fire Breaks Out at Church in Guri, No Injuries Reported

A fire erupted at a church in Gyeonggi Province's Guri City on July 2 at approximately 6:12 PM. At the time of the incident, around 100 congregants were present, but all were able to evacuate safely, resulting in no reported injuries. The Northern Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters issued a Level 1 response at 7:17 PM, deploying 70 personnel and 28 pieces of equipment to combat the blaze. Thick black smoke was observed at the scene, and firefighters managed to bring the major flames under control by 7:56 PM, roughly 1 hour and 40 minutes after the fire started. In response to the situation, Guri City Hall sent out safety alerts advising residents to avoid the area due to the heavy smoke and to reroute any passing vehicles. Fire officials indicated that the extensive area affected by the fire would likely prolong the process of extinguishing any remaining embers and stated that an investigation into the cause of the fire would be conducted.
