Final Season of Squid Game Set to Premiere Tomorrow

The highly anticipated final season of the Netflix series Squid Game (오징어 게임) is just a day away from its global release on June 27, 2025. This marks nearly four years since the first season debuted on September 17, 2021.
Squid Game Season 3 will consist of six episodes, following the previous seasons which had nine and seven episodes, respectively. The storyline will continue with Seong Gi-hun (이정재), who, after failing a rebellion in Season 2, finds himself back in the deadly games. It is expected that this season will reveal how Seong Gi-hun uncovers the identity of the Front Man (이병헌), who had previously participated in the games under the alias Oh Young-il, teaming up with Seong Gi-hun to survive until the third game.
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk emphasized during a press conference on June 9 that viewers should pay attention to the ideological clash between Seong Gi-hun and the Front Man.
Another key aspect to watch will be the fates of various characters. The impact of Dae-ho (강하늘), who failed to bring ammunition leading to the massacre of the rebels, Hyun-joo (박성훈), who returns to the games after being part of the rebellion, and Jun-hee (조유리), who is pregnant while participating, will be explored. Additionally, the dynamics between her ex-boyfriend Myung-ki (임시완), and No-eul (박규영), who enters the games as a Pink Guard, along with her connection to Kyung-seok (이진욱), will be pivotal.
Fans are also curious about the remaining three games. Trailers have hinted at games resembling hide-and-seek and jump rope, but the final game remains a mystery. Following the appearance of Young-hee in Season 2's game, viewers are eager to see how Cheol-soo will influence the games in Season 3.
To celebrate the release of this record-breaking series, Netflix is organizing a special event in collaboration with the city of Seoul. On June 28 at 7:30 PM, a Squid Game parade will take place in Gwanghwamun, featuring iconic characters like Young-hee and the Pink Guards, who will interact with fans for about an hour as they make their way to Seoul Plaza.
Following the parade, a fan event will commence at 8:30 PM in front of Seoul City Hall, where key cast members including director Hwang Dong-hyuk, Lee Jung-jae, and Lee Byung-hun will be present.
The Squid Game series has made a significant mark in the history of Korean content. Season 1 set a record as Netflix's most-watched series, amassing 265.2 million views and 2.2 billion hours of watch time within 28 days of its release, ranking first across both English and non-English categories. Season 2 followed with 192.6 million views and 1.38 billion hours, placing second in the non-English category and third overall.
The series has also received critical acclaim, with Season 1 earning six Emmy Awards out of 14 nominations in 2022, making it the first non-English language series to be nominated. Director Hwang became the first Asian director to win the directing award, while Lee Jung-jae made history as the first Asian male actor to win the lead actor award.
