Yumi's Cells Returns for Season 3 with Kim Go-eun

On May 13, 2025, families of the victims from the Jeju Air disaster, along with the Gwangju Bar Association's legal support team, submitted a criminal complaint to the Jeonnam Police Agency, seeking accountability for those responsible for the incident. Among the 15 individuals named in the complaint are Park Sang-woo, the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and Kim Yi-bae, the CEO of Jeju Air.

The families, comprising 72 members, held a press conference where they called for the prosecution of officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Jeju Air, the Seoul and Busan Regional Aviation Offices, Korea Airports Corporation, and Muan International Airport for violations of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and charges of negligent homicide.

Attorney Jeong Da-eun, representing the legal support team, stated, "The Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has violated safety obligations as a management official under the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, while the CEO of Jeju Air failed to fulfill their responsibilities regarding aircraft operations and emergency responses."

The complaint also includes air traffic controllers and management personnel from Muan International Airport, as well as the heads of Jeju Air's maintenance and safety departments, who are accused of negligence leading to the disaster.

The families emphasized that the Jeju Air incident was not merely an accident but a significant public disaster resulting from negligent management of preventable risks. They expressed their urgent demand for a swift police investigation and criminal charges against those responsible.

Kim Da-hye, a family member, voiced her frustration, stating, "It has been four months since the tragedy, and there has been no progress. We are determined to pursue the truth and will not give up."

Previously, the legal support team had warned that despite the passage of four months since the disaster, no resolutions had been made, and the investigation into the truth remained stagnant.

The Jeonnam Police Agency, which is investigating the cause of the passenger plane crash, has conducted searches at Muan International Airport, the Busan Regional Aviation Office, and Jeju Air's Seoul office, collecting over 1,000 pieces of evidence, including air traffic control audio files, runway CCTV footage, and localizer schematics.

Additionally, around 50 individuals, including Kim Yi-bae and other executives, as well as officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Korea Airports Corporation, have been interviewed as witnesses. No suspects have been formally charged yet.

A police spokesperson stated, "We are awaiting the results of the investigation by the Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Committee to ensure a clear and objective inquiry. We will proceed with legal actions based on the findings of the investigation."

The tragic incident occurred on December 29, 2024, when a Jeju Air passenger plane attempted to land without deploying its landing gear, crashing into the localizer and resulting in an explosion that claimed the lives of 179 passengers and crew members.

2025년 5월 13일, 제주항공 사고 피해자 가족들과 광주변호사회의 법률 지원팀이 전남경찰청에 사건 책임자에 대한 책임을 묻기 위해 형사 고소장을 제출했다. 고소장에 명시된 15명의 개인 중에는 박상우 국토교통부 장관과 김이배 제주항공 CEO가 포함되어 있다.

72명의 가족들은 기자회견을 열고 국토교통부, 제주항공, 서울 및 부산 지역 항공청, 한국공항공사, 무안국제공항의 관계자들에 대해 중대재해처벌법 위반 및 과실치사 혐의로 기소할 것을 촉구했다.

법률 지원팀을 대표하는 정다은 변호사는 "국토교통부 장관은 중대재해처벌법에 따른 관리 책임자로서 안전 의무를 위반했으며, 제주항공 CEO는 항공기 운영 및 비상 대응에 대한 책임을 다하지 못했다"고 밝혔다.

고소장에는 무안국제공항의 항공 교통 관제사와 관리 직원, 제주항공의 유지보수 및 안전 부서 책임자들도 포함되어 있으며, 이들은 사고로 이어진 과실로 기소되고 있다.

가족들은 제주항공 사건이 단순한 사고가 아니라 예방 가능한 위험의 부실 관리로 인한 중대한 공공 재해라고 강조했다. 그들은 사건 책임자에 대한 신속한 경찰 수사와 형사 고소를 강력히 요구했다.

가족 중 한 명인 김다혜는 "비극이 발생한 지 4개월이 지났지만 진전이 없다. 우리는 진실을 추구할 것이며 포기하지 않을 것"이라고 불만을 표출했다.

법률 지원팀은 사고 발생 후 4개월이 지났음에도 불구하고 어떤 해결책도 마련되지 않았고 진실에 대한 수사가 정체되어 있다고 경고한 바 있다.

여객기 추락 원인을 조사 중인 전남경찰청은 무안국제공항, 부산 지역 항공청, 제주항공 서울 사무소에서 수색을 실시하고, 항공 교통 관제 오디오 파일, 활주로 CCTV 영상, 로컬라이저 도면 등 1,000개 이상의 증거를 수집했다.

또한 김이배 및 기타 임원, 국토교통부 및 한국공항공사 관계자 등 약 50명이 증인으로 인터뷰를 받았다. 아직 공식적으로 기소된 용의자는 없다.

경찰 대변인은 "우리는 명확하고 객관적인 조사를 보장하기 위해 항공 및 철도 사고 조사 위원회의 조사 결과를 기다리고 있다. 조사 결과에 따라 법적 조치를 진행할 것"이라고 밝혔다.

이 비극적인 사건은 2024년 12월 29일 제주항공 여객기가 착륙 장치를 펼치지 않고 착륙을 시도하다가 로컬라이저에 충돌하여 폭발이 발생, 179명의 승객과 승무원이 사망한 사고로 발생했다.
