Father Arrested for Child Abuse Leading to Death of 11-Year-Old Son

A man in his 40s has been arrested by the Incheon Police for allegedly beating his 11-year-old son, resulting in the child's death. The police confirmed on January 21 that the suspect, identified as A, is facing charges under the Special Act on the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes.

The incident occurred on January 16 in an apartment located in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, where A reportedly struck his son, B, with a blunt object, causing severe injuries. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital by emergency services, B was pronounced dead.

A called the fire department, claiming that his son was not breathing. Upon arrival, police noticed signs of abuse and promptly arrested A. He reportedly told authorities that he hit his son as a form of discipline for not listening.

An autopsy conducted by the National Forensic Service indicated a direct link between the injuries and the child's death. Additionally, police are investigating B's mother, identified as C, for potential violations of child welfare laws, particularly whether she aided in the abuse.

Authorities plan to analyze the couple's mobile phones to determine if there is a history of abuse against B.
