Fashion Showdown on MBC's 'How Do You Play?' Features Model Battle

On December 21, MBC's 'How Do You Play?' aired an episode titled 'What Do You Want to Play?'. In this episode, model Joo Woo-jae faced off against fellow model Bae Jung-nam in a fashion competition, assisted by his partner Kang Cheol-yong.

Joo Woo-jae, a seasoned model with 11 years of experience, confidently stated, "I have strong opinions, so I won't be swayed at all." Meanwhile, Bae Jung-nam, who has been in the industry for 22 years, joked about Joo's style, saying, "Isn't his boyfriend look quite famous? It's dandy and neat. I prefer avant-garde and vintage styles, so we're quite different. You should match me with someone similar!"

The teams were formed with Bae Jung-nam joined by Yoo Jae-suk, Lee Yi-kyung, and Park Jin-joo, while Joo Woo-jae teamed up with Kang Cheol-woong, Ha Ha, and Mi-joo. The production team explained the rules: after styling, they would take photos to be judged by a panel.

Bae Jung-nam then headed to a vintage shop for some shopping. He expressed, "I believe the most beautiful clothes are those that fit the person. Jae-suk wanted a preppy look, while Yi-kyung prefers classic, clean, and dandy styles," but he sighed when he saw Park Jin-joo, seemingly unsure of how to style her.

He suggested scanning the clothes they chose, but Lee Yi-kyung surprised everyone by stripping down to his underwear, leaving Bae Jung-nam flustered. Bae jokingly asked, "Did you take off too much? Are you planning to quit acting?" to which Lee responded, "Let me try on one piece at a time." Park Jin-joo chimed in, telling Lee to put his pants back on, causing laughter.

Bae Jung-nam initially tried to style Lee Yi-kyung but struggled, so he shifted his focus to Yoo Jae-suk. Yoo, who had his own fashion philosophy, was not pleased with the preppy look Bae had chosen, stating, "This won't win over there." They eventually moved to a neighboring store, where Yoo decided to dress as he pleased, saying, "Forget about matching; I'm going to wear what I want."

Lee Yi-kyung teased Yoo about his orange jacket and hat, asking, "What’s your concept? Is it a citrus fruit?" Bae Jung-nam encouraged a strong fashion statement, while Yoo defended his choices, saying, "What’s wrong with this? It’s about finding confidence. Fashion is about wearing what I want, so why should I care?"

As the styling continued, Yoo added sunglasses to his look, prompting Park Jin-joo to comment, "You look like you're in Paris." Yoo was pleased, saying he felt like he was channeling Seo Taiji's comeback. However, Park Jin-joo pointed out that while the three of them matched well, Yoo looked like a bystander.

Meanwhile, Joo Woo-jae's team selected outfits from a boutique. He explained, "I don’t want to take bold risks like Jung-nam; I aim to suggest styles that anyone can wear easily. Today, I want to show a different side of Ha Ha, who usually dresses in a Jamaican reggae hip-hop style."

Joo styled Ha Ha in denim fashion, while Kang Cheol-woong dressed Mi-joo in a wool knit. Joo also matched a jacket for Mi-joo, aiming to keep her look lively yet slightly more sophisticated. They all coordinated similar looks, but when the staff mentioned the price, they decided to take off the jackets.

After styling, it was time for the photo shoot. Bae Jung-nam, Park Jin-joo, and Lee Yi-kyung posed together for a fashion shoot, while Yoo Jae-suk took solo shots. Park Jin-joo remarked on Yoo's impressive back view, to which Yoo quipped, "Are you saying my face isn’t good enough? We’re all giving each other wounds today!"

As the photo session continued, Yoo expressed his desire for more dynamic shots, but he ultimately agreed that his back view looked better. Following Park Jin-joo's suggestion, Yoo swapped sunglasses with Bae Jung-nam, leading to more playful banter about posing.

After the photo shoot, both teams gathered at Kang Cheol-yong's meat restaurant for judging. The panel awarded the best cut to Mi-joo, which prompted Joo Woo-jae to jokingly question if that meant Park Jin-joo was unattractive. The judges praised Mi-joo, stating, "We chose this after careful consideration. The model and the outfit harmonized well, and viewers could easily replicate this look."
