EXO's Xiumin Faces Conflict Over 'Music Bank' Appearance Ahead of Solo Comeback

Xiumin, a member of EXO, is gearing up for his solo comeback under his new label, INB100, with a solo album set to release on March 10. However, tensions have arisen regarding his potential appearance on KBS 2TV's Music Bank. On March 4, representatives from One Hundred claimed that despite multiple attempts to arrange meetings with the broadcasting station, KBS has remained unresponsive. They stated, 'KBS has unofficially communicated that it is impossible for Xiumin to appear on programs like Music Bank that feature artists from SM Entertainment.' They expressed frustration over the lack of communication, stating, 'We have continuously reached out but have been ignored.'
The representatives further alleged that KBS's actions are not based on musical considerations but rather on conflicts of interest with specific entertainment companies, effectively blocking opportunities for artists to connect with their fans through broadcasts. In contrast, KBS has dismissed these claims, asserting that discussions regarding Xiumin's appearance are still ongoing. This has led to mixed reactions, with some supporting Xiumin's agency while others criticize their approach.
Interestingly, artists from One Hundred, including Baekhyun and Taemin, successfully appeared on Music Bank last year without issue. The agency has pointed out that the decision to exclude Xiumin seems particularly unfair, suggesting that KBS is favoring certain companies.
In 2023, Xiumin's group, ChenBaekXi, notified SM Entertainment of their intent to terminate their exclusive contract, citing a lack of transparency in financial dealings and allegations of coercive contracts. Although a resolution appeared to have been reached between SM and ChenBaekXi, the current situation has reignited tensions, leaving fans concerned.
One Hundred is home to the group THE BOYZ and artist Kim Dae-ho, as well as various other artists and entertainers, including Taemin, Lee Seung-gi, and Lee Soo-geun, under the umbrella of Big Planet Made Entertainment, which also includes EXO's Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen under INB100.
