Exit Polls Predict Lee Jae-myung's Victory in South Korea's Presidential Election
On June 3, 2025, voters lined up at the Jang-an Children's Library polling station in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, as the 21st presidential election took place. According to a joint exit poll conducted by KBS, MBC, and SBS, Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party is projected to receive 51.7% of the votes, while Kim Moon-soo of the People Power Party is expected to garner 39.3%. Lee Jun-seok of the Reform Party is anticipated to secure 7.7% of the votes.
The poll results indicate that Lee Jae-myung leads among voters aged 20 to 50, while Kim Moon-soo is favored by those in their 60s and 70s. Notably, Lee Jun-seok achieved a 24.3% approval rating among voters in their 20s.
Regionally, in Seoul, Lee is projected to receive 49.3% of the votes, compared to Kim's 40.1% and Lee Jun-seok's 9.2%. In Gyeonggi Province, Lee is expected to achieve 55.8%, while Kim is at 34.6%.
In Gwangju, a significant 81.7% of voters support Lee, with only 10.5% backing Kim. In Jeollanam-do, Lee is projected to receive 80.8% and Kim 10.9%, while in Jeollabuk-do, Lee is at 79.6% and Kim at 11.8%.
Conversely, in Daegu, Kim is expected to dominate with 67.5% of the votes, while Lee is projected to receive 24.1%. In Gyeongsangbuk-do, Kim is anticipated to secure 64.0% against Lee's 28.2%.
When broken down by gender, among men, Lee Jae-myung has 48.3%, Kim Moon-soo 39.4%, and Lee Jun-seok 11.1%. Among women, Lee leads with 55.1%, followed by Kim at 39.2% and Lee Jun-seok at 4.3%.
The exit poll was conducted by the Joint Prediction Survey Committee (KEP), formed by the broadcasting association and the three major networks (KBS, MBC, SBS), across 325 polling stations with a sample size of 80,146 voters. The margin of error for this exit poll is ±0.8% at a 95% confidence level.
