EXID's Hani Opens Up About Life After Postponing Wedding with Yang Jae-woong

EXID's Hani made her return to television on the July 7 episode of Channel A's 'Oh Eun-young's Stay,' where she candidly shared her feelings following the postponement of her wedding to Yang Jae-woong. Arriving at the filming location in a simple tracksuit and without any staff, Hani reflected on her early start in the entertainment industry, stating, "I began my career too early, and after my contract ended, I realized I didn't know much about the world. I felt like a frog in a well."
During the 'Auto Talk' segment, she expressed her struggles with being overly sensitive to others' opinions, saying, "I want to stop being so aware of others. It's tough to be in an environment where you have to be mindful of everything. Recently, I've come to realize that my life doesn't always go as I wish. I feel like I can't choose what happens to me, and I've started to let go of the need to control my life. I wonder if it's okay to live like this."
Hani had halted her activities in May of last year after a tragic incident at a hospital run by her fiancé, which resulted in a patient's death. This event led to the indefinite postponement of their wedding, and she also withdrew from a scheduled program.
In a preview for the next episode, Hani revealed, "For the first time, I've felt a lot of sadness and pressure. I want to escape. I've heard comments like, 'Why are you choosing a thorny path?' which have made me reflect deeply."
The episode also featured family members of victims from the December 2022 Jeju Air tragedy. One participant, known by the nickname 'Peanut Snack,' shared heartfelt memories of their father, describing him as a loving figure who always welcomed them home and cherished his granddaughter. They recounted their last conversation on Christmas Eve, where their father expressed a desire to see his granddaughter, unaware that he would soon be involved in a tragic accident.
The emotional recounting included the moment they learned of the accident, stating, "I was at work when I saw the news in a group chat. I realized my dad was on that flight. I felt chills all over. I kept calling him, but he didn't answer. When I saw his name on the passenger list, I just cried."
They expressed feelings of regret and sorrow, stating, "Every day feels like a regret. We know that we will eventually part ways, but it's hard to accept such an unexpected goodbye. What saddens me more is that this tragedy is slowly being forgotten. It's not over; it just feels like it's paused."
The participant also shared their experience of reading a tribute letter at a memorial service for their father, only to face negative comments online, which led them to take action by joining protests and gathering signatures for justice. They reflected on the difficulty of moving forward while dealing with public scrutiny, saying, "I felt like I was doing something wrong just for trying to grieve."
