Elementary Student Assaults Teacher in South Korea

A troubling incident has come to light involving a third-grade student assaulting his teacher during class at an elementary school in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province. According to the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, the event occurred on May 9 at approximately 1:15 PM when student A struck teacher B on the knee, hand, and ankle with his fists and feet. The altercation began while teacher B was distributing results from a math assessment and conducting a review of incorrect answers. After reviewing his mistakes, student A reportedly shouted, "No, I got them all right!" leading to the violent outburst. Following the incident, the Gunpo-Uiwang Education Support Office requested the establishment of a local committee to protect teachers' rights at the school. Teacher B was offered psychological counseling and was temporarily separated from student A through special leave and sick leave. It has been reported that student A, accompanied by his parents, submitted an apology letter to teacher B.
