Domestic Violence Survivor Expresses Resistance on 'Baek Jong-won's Les Misérables'

In the latest episode of ENA's 'Baek Jong-won's Les Misérables,' which aired on December 21, 2024, domestic violence survivor Jo Dong-yeon revealed her resistance towards Baek Jong-won. The episode featured a redemption round for Team D, who had been eliminated the previous week. Members including Seong Hyun-woo, Oh Chang-seok (who struggles with alcohol addiction), and Jo Dong-yeon faced harsh criticism due to their lack of teamwork and insufficient knowledge of ingredients.
During the redemption opportunity, Baek Jong-won expressed his determination to provide them with a chance, stating, "I am trying to create opportunities no matter what." However, Jo Dong-yeon, who had taken on the role of team leader, declined, saying, "I think it’s better if I don’t participate. I feel a sense of responsibility for our elimination."
Baek Jong-won responded firmly, saying, "This is an opportunity I am giving you. Life is not easy, and business is even tougher. You cannot live emotionally. I’m not saying you should ruthlessly compete against others, but you need to be prepared for the challenges ahead."
Jo Dong-yeon later reflected on her initial resistance, stating, "I felt a sense of rebellion when asked to create something on the spot, but if it’s about recognizing potential, then I believe it’s right for me to participate."
