Dog Trainer Kang Hyung-wook Opens Up About Hair Loss After Controversy

Kang Hyung-wook, a well-known dog trainer, has revealed that he has been experiencing hair loss following a workplace controversy. In a recent video titled 'Kang Hyung-wook's 6-Month Hair Loss Treatment Progress' on his YouTube channel 'Kang Hyung-wook's Bodeum TV,' he shared his struggles with hair loss. He mentioned that between May and July of last year, he lost 13 kg in just two weeks, which he believes may have contributed to his significant hair loss, stating it was so severe that he needed to vacuum his home regularly.
Initially, he felt embarrassed to visit a hair loss clinic alone, often lingering outside before ultimately leaving. It wasn't until his third visit that he brought his wife, Susan Elder, for support. He expressed how self-conscious he felt about his appearance, especially when training dogs, as he worried about his thinning hair being visible.
Upon arriving at the clinic, he asked the doctor if his hair had improved. The doctor reviewed photos from six months prior, which showed a noticeably thinning crown. He reassured Kang that his hair had thickened significantly and suggested that with continued treatment, he could regain a youthful appearance. Kang humorously noted that even during his high school years, he had little hair.
After completing his treatment, Kang reflected on his journey, acknowledging that he still has much to learn and grow as a trainer. He emphasized the importance of learning from pet owners, stating that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to dog training. He expressed his commitment to becoming a wiser trainer moving forward, aiming to combine knowledge with wisdom.
This revelation comes after former employees of his company, Bodeum Company, filed a complaint against him and his wife in May of last year, alleging workplace misconduct, including unauthorized access to employee communications. Kang later addressed these allegations in a YouTube video, denying any wrongdoing. The police investigated the claims but ultimately found no evidence to support the allegations, closing the case without charges.
