Documentary on Late Singer Kim Sung-jae's Death May Be Released Next Year, Says PD Bae Jeong-hoon

As questions surrounding the death of singer 故김성재 continue to linger, there is speculation about the potential release of a documentary coinciding with the 30th anniversary of his passing. On November 20, OSEN reported that PD Bae Jeong-hoon is preparing a documentary related to the case, hoping for a release next year.
Last year, it was revealed that content related to the Kim Sung-jae case would be released in three parts on an OTT platform, in collaboration with a writer from the show 그알 (Geural). In a recent statement to OSEN, PD Bae expressed his hopes, saying, "We are preparing this documentary with the expectation that it can be released to coincide with the 30th anniversary."
Previously, PD Bae had planned to air a segment on SBS's 그것이 알고싶다 (I Want to Know That) regarding the death of Kim Sung-jae on August 3, 2019. However, a broadcasting ban was requested by the late singer's ex-girlfriend, which the court accepted, preventing the segment from airing. Although the show announced a second airing on December 21 of the same year, a subsequent request for a broadcasting ban was also granted, leading to its cancellation.
Despite these setbacks, PD Bae remains determined to share the story through an OTT platform. The success of the documentary 나는 신이다 (I Am God) on Netflix, which covered a previously difficult-to-broadcast case and sparked public outrage, has led to hopes that the Kim Sung-jae case could also be revisited on an OTT platform, allowing for renewed discussion about the incident.
As this year marks the 29th anniversary of 故김성재's death, attention is now focused on whether the mystery surrounding his passing will be unveiled to the public next year during the 30th anniversary, potentially leading to new insights into the case.
