DJ DOC's Lee Ha-neul Sparks Controversy Over G-Dragon's New Song

Lee Ha-neul (이하늘), a member of the group DJ DOC, recently stirred controversy with comments that seemed to downplay the upcoming release of G-Dragon's (지드래곤) new song. Following backlash, he deleted the related video on November 28, 2024.

In a recent update on his YouTube channel, Lee Ha-neul announced that he would be releasing a new song in February 2025 and mentioned several junior artists. He commented on the duet 'Apartment' by Rosé and Bruno Mars, stating, "If we had released an album, it would have been a disaster. It has exploded since 'Gangnam Style.' I haven't even listened to the songs of other artists who have released albums recently. The delay in our album release has turned out to be a blessing in disguise."

However, when discussing G-Dragon's new track, he expressed, "I respect GD, but my expectations are low. I usually enjoy GD's work, but this time, I feel like it would be a fair competition if I released my album at the same time." He clarified that this was not a criticism of G-Dragon, but rather a reflection of their different styles.

G-Dragon's fans reacted strongly, accusing Lee Ha-neul of targeting the younger artist, leading to the removal of the video.

Lee Ha-neul debuted in 1994 as part of DJ DOC and has produced numerous hits, including 'Murphy's Law,' 'Winter Story,' 'Dance with DOC,' 'Run to You,' and 'I Am This Kind of Person.'
