Disney+ Announces Premiere Date for Action Hero Series 'Twelve'
Disney+ has officially set the premiere date for its action hero series 'Twelve', inspired by the Eastern zodiac myths, for August 23.
'Twelve' reinterprets ancient folklore in a modern context, showcasing the battles of twelve angels who take human forms to protect the human world. The series promises to blend Eastern worldviews and character-driven drama, hinting at the creation of a new universe through the conflict between humans and evil forces.
The leader of the twelve angels, symbolizing the 'Tiger', is portrayed by Ma Dong-seok, known globally for his roles in the 'Crime City' series and Marvel's 'Eternals'. His character, Taesan, awakens ancient powers to confront a resurrected evil. Park Hyung-sik plays the antagonist, Ogui, a cold character symbolizing a crow, who adds tension to the narrative, having recently received acclaim for his role in the Disney+ original 'Treasure Island'.
Seo In-guk transforms into the monkey angel, Wonseung, a clever and cheerful character aspiring to be the next leader. The dragon-powered angel, Mir, is played by Lee Joo-bin, who will showcase a blend of deep emotional acting and strong action sequences. The pig angel, Doni, is portrayed by Ko Gyu-pil, bringing a lively energy to the series.
Additionally, Kang Mi-na takes on the role of the dog angel, Gang-ji, delivering agile action and warmth, while Sung Yoo-bin plays the rat angel, Jwi-dol, serving as the team's strategist. An Ji-hye appears as the horse angel, Malsook, and newcomer Regina Ray plays the snake angel, Bang-ul, leaving a strong impression.
Veteran actor Sung Dong-il anchors the series as Marok, the human chosen by the gods to oversee the twelve angels.
The eight-episode Disney+ original series 'Twelve' will be released weekly starting August 23.
