Director Yang Woo-seok on Casting Lee Soon-jae After Oh Young-soo's Departure: A Fortunate Turn of Events

Director Yang Woo-seok addressed the casting of Lee Soon-jae following the departure of actor Oh Young-soo due to a sexual harassment controversy. Speaking at the press and distribution preview of his upcoming film '대가족' (Big Family) on November 21 at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Songpa, Seoul, Yang expressed his mixed feelings about the situation. He stated, "It was a very unfortunate event, but thanks to Lee Soon-jae, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise."

'대가족' (Big Family), set to be released on December 11, is a family comedy about a dumpling restaurant owner, 평만옥 (Pyeong Man-ok), whose life takes an unexpected turn when adorable grandchildren, whom he has never seen before, come to live with him due to his son becoming a monk.

Yang elaborated on the casting change, noting that while Oh Young-soo's role was not extensive, it was crucial to the story. He shared, "We were all concerned about who could fill the role after Oh Young-soo's exit, and unanimously, the staff suggested Lee Soon-jae. When I asked him if he could participate, I was incredibly grateful that he agreed just two days later, allowing many people to enjoy the film. Although it was a very unfortunate situation, it turned out to be a great opportunity, and Lee Soon-jae has been a tremendous support."
