Director Tarsem Singh Discusses the Release of 'The Fall: Director's Cut'

Director Tarsem Singh shared insights into the release of the director's cut of his film 'The Fall: Director's Cut' during a press conference held on February 6 at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul. He explained, "The original version was completed in 4K, and I wanted to create a version that would last for a long time using the latest technology." Singh elaborated on the motivation behind presenting the director's cut, stating, "When I first completed the film, it was in 4K. At the time of its release, it was challenging to screen a 4K version. I believed this film deserved to be made with the best technology available. However, it was difficult to find the original 4K footage for remastering. Therefore, I took the original version and completed it anew in Montreal."

He also discussed the importance of visual storytelling in his filmmaking process, recalling his childhood experiences in a boarding school in the Himalayas and his father's work as an engineer in Iran. This background led him to appreciate visual narratives, as he often encountered cartoons in languages he did not understand.

Released on January 25, 'The Fall: Director's Cut' tells the story of a stuntman named Roy who shares a fantastical adventure with a curious young girl named Alexandria, set against breathtaking landscapes from 24 countries around the world. The film returns with enhanced visuals and new scenes after 18 years, thanks to the 4K remastering.
