Director Kim Hyung-joo Discusses Challenges with Yoo Ah-in in Upcoming Film 'Victory'

On March 19, a press screening for the film 'Victory' (승부), directed by Kim Hyung-joo, took place at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul. The event featured a star-studded cast including Lee Byung-hun as the legendary Go player Cho Hun-hyun, Ko Chang-seok as the Go journalist Cheon Seung-pil, Hyun Bong-sik as the pro Go player Lee Yong-gak who recognizes the talent of Lee Chang-ho (played by Yoo Ah-in), Moon Jung-hee as the close companion Jeong Mi-hwa, and Jo Woo-jin as Nam Ki-cheol, Cho Hun-hyun's greatest rival before Lee Chang-ho's rise.
Director Kim Hyung-joo expressed his initial unfamiliarity with Go, stating, "I was also someone who knew nothing about Go, and I aimed to create a film that would be enjoyable even for audiences unfamiliar with the game. After many ups and downs, I am thrilled and moved to finally present this film to the world in theaters."
'Victory' tells the story of Cho Hun-hyun, who, after losing a match against his disciple, seeks to reclaim his status as a top player driven by his innate competitive spirit. The film features a talented cast including Lee Byung-hun, Yoo Ah-in, Ko Chang-seok, Hyun Bong-sik, Moon Jung-hee, and Kim Kang-hoon, with Kim Hyung-joo at the helm.
