Director Kim Hee-won Praises Rising Stars Joo Ji-hoon and Park Bo-young

Director Kim Hee-won has taken on the challenge of directing with the new Disney+ original series '조명가게' (Lighting Store), which is based on the webtoon by Kang Pool. The series held its premiere and press conference at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore, featuring the attendance of writer Kang Pool, director Kim Hee-won, and lead actors Joo Ji-hoon and Park Bo-young.
In his remarks, Director Kim expressed admiration for his younger colleagues, stating, "Joo Ji-hoon and Park Bo-young are both outstanding actors. When I asked Park Bo-young about her initial concerns regarding her role as a nurse, I focused on how to direct her to present a different perspective. Similarly, I considered how to showcase aspects of Joo Ji-hoon that audiences have not seen before. Our communication was seamless, which helped alleviate any pressure and allowed for a smooth performance."
'조명가게' tells the story of a mysterious lighting store that illuminates the dark corners of an alley, where customers with hidden secrets come to visit. Following the success of the 2023 phenomenon '무빙' (Moving), this series is highly anticipated as one of Disney+'s top projects. It marks Kang Pool's second scriptwriting endeavor and is the fifth installment in his 'mystery psychological thriller' series, based on the webtoon of the same name that has garnered over 150 million views and widespread acclaim.
Director Kim Hee-won, known for his compelling performances in various films and dramas, including his role as Choi Il-hwan in '무빙', is making his directorial debut with this series, promising to enhance the strong narrative with his unique vision.
The cast features a diverse ensemble of 11 characters, each with their own intriguing backstories, portrayed by Joo Ji-hoon, Park Bo-young, Kim Seol-hyun, Bae Sung-woo, Eom Tae-goo, Lee Jung-eun, Kim Min-ha, Park Hyuk-kwon, Kim Dae-myung, Shin Eun-soo, Kim Sun-hwa, and Kim Gi-ha, ensuring a captivating performance.
'조명가게' will premiere on December 4, releasing two episodes weekly over the following two weeks.
