Dex Reveals Retirement Plans During YouTube Appearance
On May 23, 2025, broadcaster Dex announced his retirement plans during an episode of Ki-an 84's YouTube channel, 'Life 84,' titled 'Ki-an 84 Art Hobby Gathering (Dex and Ji-yeon).' In the video, Ki-an 84 invited actress Ji-yeon and Dex to join him for a hiking trip. Both Ji-yeon and Dex have previously collaborated with Ki-an 84, creating anticipation for the merging of their worlds.
After a hike that felt reminiscent of a drawing competition, Ki-an 84 suggested they paint together. Despite being only a year apart in age, Ji-yeon insisted on calling Dex 'noona' (older sister), which made Dex chuckle, hinting at their unique chemistry.
While hiking, the trio found a picturesque spot to sit and began painting. During the session, when asked about his recent experiences, Dex shared, "I’ve been working hard, and my perspective on work has changed. In the past, my new life felt like a daily struggle. I experienced the fastest burnout ever. I resonate with Yoo Jae-suk's words about needing a complete break from work. I feel grateful to have come this far. Now, I work with the mindset that it’s okay if everything falls apart tomorrow."
He continued, "If everything goes wrong tomorrow, I still have plans. I’m preparing to become a firefighter. I’ve set up a way to leave boldly, so this isn’t my entire life. That doesn’t mean I won’t work hard; I’ll give it my all and leave without regrets."
Dex also shared his thoughts on attending the Baeksang Arts Awards, expressing admiration for his favorite actor, Lee Byung-hun. He recounted a moment after the ceremony when he held Lee's hand and shared a meaningful gaze, feeling it was a rare opportunity he might never have again.
