Devil's Plan: Death Room Winner Jeong Hyun-kyu Deletes Apology from Social Media Profile

Jeong Hyun-kyu, the winner of Netflix's recently concluded reality show Devil's Plan: Death Room (데블스 플랜 : 데스룸), has removed an apology message from his personal social media profile. On May 23, he edited his profile to delete the phrase "I'm sorry," which he had previously posted in response to backlash over his rude comments during the show.
The controversy arose early in the competition when Jeong made dismissive remarks towards fellow contestants, such as asking, "Can you do math?" and stating, "I won't team up with you." Following the criticism, he expressed his regret through his social media status. However, the apology was taken down on the same day he won the show.
As Jeong secured his victory, behind-the-scenes review videos covering episodes 10 to 12, which featured his win, were also released. Speculation suggests that he may have felt his explanation was sufficient and decided to remove the apology.
Conversely, some believe he might clarify his comments in upcoming interviews or fan meetings. On the evening of the same day, Jeong and other contestants participated in a private special talk with fans, and he is scheduled for an interview with the show's producer, Jeong Jong-yeon, on May 27.
Despite his win, public sentiment remains mixed regarding Jeong and other contestants like Yoon So-hee and Kyuhyun, with ongoing discussions about their gameplay. Jeong Hyun-kyu, who gained attention as a standout participant in the Tving original series Love Transition Season 2 (환승연애 시즌2), is a graduate of Seoul National University and has been dubbed the "Seoul National University Song Kang."
Devil's Plan: Death Room is a brain survival game show where players from various professions compete over seven days to determine who has the sharpest mind. The series concluded with Jeong's victory in the final episode aired on May 20.
