Devil's Plan 2 Winner Jung Hyun-kyu Faces Backlash Over Vlog Amid Apology
Jung Hyun-kyu, the winner of Netflix's Devil's Plan 2 (데블스 플랜2), has issued a second apology, but his recent vlog has sparked further controversy. On June 1, he uploaded a video titled 'Devil's Plan 2 Schedule Vlog' on his YouTube channel, showcasing behind-the-scenes moments from photoshoots and gatherings with fellow cast members, highlighting their camaraderie.
However, the release of the vlog did not quell the criticism directed at him. Despite including an apology in the video description, viewers took to the comments section to express their discontent, questioning his timing with remarks like, "Is this the right time to post a vlog?" and "It doesn't make sense to post content while apologizing." Some commenters accused him of being unaware of his situation.
In his post, Jung stated, "I have reflected and learned a lot from my participation in Devil's Plan. I apologize to those who felt uncomfortable. I will strive to become a better person." He also mentioned that he plans to take a break from broadcasting activities to focus on healing and intends to donate a portion of his prize money.
Despite his intentions, the backlash over the vlog continues, with critics arguing that his actions contradict his claims of self-reflection. This is particularly fueled by past controversies involving his interactions with fellow contestants Yoon So-hee and Kyuhyun, as well as perceived dismissive behavior towards Choi Hyun-jun.
On the other hand, some supporters argue that he has the right to post whatever he wants on his personal channel, stating that while criticism is valid, excessive negativity crosses a line.
Jung Hyun-kyu first gained recognition in 2022 through the TVING show Transit Love 2 (환승연애2) and recently captured attention as the champion of Devil's Plan 2, but he has since found himself at the center of ongoing controversies.
