DAY6 Makes History with First Solo Concert at Gocheok Sky Dome

On December 20 and 21, the South Korean band DAY6 held their first solo concert at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, marking a significant milestone as the first domestic band to perform at this venue. The four-member group, consisting of Do Woon (drums), Young K (bass), Sung Jin (guitar), and Won Pil (keyboard), expressed their disbelief at the achievement. "I still can't believe we are standing on the Gocheok Dome stage," said Won Pil.

The concert attracted an impressive audience of 38,000 over the two days, showcasing the band's growth since their debut in 2015 as an under-the-radar idol band. Their popularity surged in recent years, particularly with the resurgence of older hits like 'You Were Beautiful' (예뻤어) and 'I Can’t Help Myself' (한 페이지가 될 수 있게), alongside the success of their mini-albums released this year.

During the concert, DAY6 performed for approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes, delivering 30 songs that reflect their journey and growth as artists. The setlist included fan favorites such as 'Colors' (2015), 'Someone's Need' (누군가 필요해) (2017), and 'It Was a Happy Day' (행복했던 날들이었다) (2018), all of which prompted enthusiastic sing-alongs from the audience. The band played all songs live, demonstrating their vocal prowess, and added a festive touch to songs like 'You Were Beautiful' and 'Still Alive' with orchestral arrangements featuring over 30 string musicians.

Reflecting on their journey, Young K shared, "In 2019, I watched U2 perform here as an audience member, and today, I am standing on this stage. Thank you and I love you, My Day (the name of DAY6's fandom)." Won Pil was visibly emotional during the performance of their debut song 'Congratulations,' shedding tears of joy as the crowd cheered.

Looking ahead, DAY6 is set to embark on their third world tour next year, with performances scheduled in cities including Kaohsiung and Hong Kong in January, Osaka, Tokyo, and Manila in February, and Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Los Angeles, and New York in April.
