Daejeon City Council Member Found Dead in Vehicle

A member of the Daejeon City Council, Lee Yong-ki (이용기), was discovered deceased in his vehicle on May 18, 2025. According to police reports, the body was found around 4:26 PM near a hiking trail in the Daedeok District of Daejeon. Authorities responded to a call from Lee's family, who had expressed concerns for his well-being. Prior to his death, Lee reportedly sent messages to his family indicating feelings of despair. No suicide note was found at the scene. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
