Crayon Pop's ChoA Reveals Cancer Diagnosis During Newlywed Phase

In the latest episode of TV Chosun's variety show, 조선의 사랑꾼 (Joseon's Love Fool), ChoA, a former member of the girl group Crayon Pop, shared her shocking cancer diagnosis received shortly after her marriage.
ChoA, who tied the knot with a businessman six years her senior in 2021, has now been married for five years and appeared on the show alongside her husband. She revealed that she was diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer last October, a discovery that came after she underwent a routine prenatal check-up in hopes of starting a family. At the age of 33, she learned that she had cancer, which would prevent her from becoming pregnant if a hysterectomy was performed.
Reflecting on the moment she received the news, ChoA described it as a bolt from the blue, saying, "At first, I couldn't believe it; it felt unreal. I denied the reality, thinking 'No, that can't be true,' and I didn't even cry at first." However, when she had to tell her husband, she broke down, saying, "I was trembling and suddenly burst into tears in the hospital bathroom, saying, 'What should I do? They say it's cancer.'"
ChoA also mentioned that only her twin sister, Way, who is also a member of Crayon Pop, knew about her condition initially. She chose to inform her family just a few weeks before her surgery, concerned about their worries. "It was even harder to tell my in-laws because it was related to pregnancy, but they are such wonderful people. I worried more about them losing sleep over my diagnosis than my own condition," she added.
