Court Rejects Arrest Warrant for Former President Yoon Suk-yeol

On June 25, 2025, the court dismissed the arrest warrant requested by the special investigation team led by Special Prosecutor Jo Eun-seok against former President Yoon Suk-yeol. The court stated that the warrant was denied because Yoon had expressed his willingness to comply with the special prosecutor's summons. The special prosecutor's office announced that they had notified Yoon and his legal representatives to appear on June 28 at 9 AM. During a briefing, a representative from the special prosecutor's office indicated that if Yoon fails to respond to the summons, they would consider requesting another arrest warrant.

Previously, the special prosecutor's office had filed for the arrest warrant on June 24, alleging that Yoon had instructed the Presidential Security Service to obstruct the execution of the warrant and had ordered the deletion of a secret phone server shortly after the imposition of martial law. They noted that Yoon had ignored police summons on two occasions and had clearly indicated his intention not to comply with future summons since the investigation began on June 18. The special prosecutor's office, having taken over the case on June 23, sought the arrest warrant to ensure continuity in the investigation.
