Controversy Surrounds the Death of MBC Weathercaster Oh Yoanna Amid Workplace Bullying Allegations

The tragic passing of MBC weathercaster Oh Yoanna has sparked significant controversy as allegations of workplace bullying have emerged. Conversations and recordings between the deceased and individuals identified as her harassers have been made public, intensifying the debate. MBC has stated that Oh never reported her grievances to the relevant departments or management during her time as a freelancer.
On January 28, conversations between Oh Yoanna and a senior weathercaster were shared on online platforms, revealing troubling exchanges. In one chat, the senior caster, referred to as A, accused Oh of intentionally causing disruptions, stating, "Did you really think about the time when the seniors are working? You come here without even getting makeup done, and you expect us to just deal with it?" Oh responded with an apology, expressing her regret and promising to reflect on her actions.
In another recording, another senior, identified as B, confronted Oh about her tone, questioning her intentions. Oh attempted to apologize, but B continued to berate her, suggesting that she was crossing boundaries. The context of these conversations raises questions about the workplace environment at MBC.
Additionally, a note found on Oh's phone revealed a suicide letter detailing her experiences of bullying from two specific weathercasters since March 2022, shortly after she began her freelance career with MBC. The letter described incidents where colleagues would shift blame onto her for mistakes and criticize her for pointing out incorrect weather information.
Friends of Oh have taken to social media, alleging that she faced prolonged harassment from a specific senior weathercaster, urging the public to recognize the situation and hold the perpetrators accountable. They expressed their hope that justice would bring some peace to Oh's memory.
In response to the allegations, MBC has reiterated that Oh never officially reported any incidents of bullying to the company, emphasizing their strict policies against workplace harassment. They stated that had she reported her issues, an investigation would have been promptly initiated. MBC has also requested that anyone with information about her claims come forward to assist in a thorough investigation, should the family wish to pursue it further.
